Chicago.– Lion's Gate, a magnificent 23,000-square-foot architectural
masterpiece, situated in an extraordinary recreational setting within
the coveted gated community of Sea Horse Ranch on the north coast of
the Dominican Republic, will be sold at public auction by New York
based Sheldon Good & Company, America's Real Estate Auctioneer.
The auction has been set for Tuesday, January 19th, 2010. The estate
had originally been listed for US $33.5 million.
Located
in the tropical paradise of Cabarete and only 20 minutes by car from
Puerto Plata international Airport, known by many as the windsurfing
capitol of the world, Lion's Gate at Sea Horse Ranch is a totally
self-contained four-acre recreational sanctuary built as a
Mediterranean villa offering the amenities, serenity and privacy rarely
found in today's modern world. It is situated a great distance away
from the larger tourist meccas of the Dominican.
"We built Lion's
Gate to demonstrate our ability to create an integrated balance of
luxurious design, construction and elegance, not previously achieved in
the Dominican," said Mr. Lantigua, a spokesman for the developers of
the estate. "Now, we look forward to selling this fully-decorated and
furnished estate to a buyer who demands world class living and wishes
to have immediate occupancy."
"Once you arrive at Lion's Gate,
you never need to leave this superb permanent residence or exclusive
vacation estate designed for entertaining on a grand scale," said Alan
R. Kravets, Executive Director of Sheldon Good & Company. "And why
would you ever depart, knowing that you own a private 2.8-million
gallon artificial fresh lake with waterfall, sandy beach with cabanas,
gazebos and entertainment areas, all of which complement the elegant
swimming pool, sundeck, and nearby multi-tiered golf green."
The
mansion itself is divided into two distinctive wings, every spacious
room radiating an aura of privilege. Many of the formal rooms feature
outdoor extensions. The living room, for example, opens to a second
spectacular open-air living room at the foot of the sundeck and
swimming pool. Some rooms are dedicated to recreation –the reception
lounge and gallery, the casino, virtual golf environment, cinema,
billiard room and wine tasting room, the piano lounge, to name a few–
while the living spaces feature guest suites with opulent baths and
private patios.
The gourmet kitchen boasts Viking and Bosch appliances,
custom Italian cabinetry, and Brazilian black granite countertops.
There are twelve baths and a six passenger elevator. Totally dedicated
to entertaining, the outdoor living and recreation areas are
unequalled.
An al fresco second living room leads to the swimming pool,
furnished with submerged water stools at the snack bar. An outdoor
kitchen with covered dining area and private terrace overlooks the
Lions Gate's custom built lake and sugar sand beach, with nearby cave
sauna, fitness, steam and changing rooms.

Was this Rep. Rangel's place?
From: United States, Faber College Double Secret Probation
Rangel has a villa at Punta Cana Beach Club with the real elite ....not Cheeseball Cabarete with the nouveaus and arrivistes scumbubbles and drug dealers and even worse the Canadians .....Go Leafs

Blu the elite are in La Romana not Punta Cana. Actually sea horse ranch is about less than 20 minute from downtown cabarete where all the action is. It is a nice quiet beautiful place.
Let me say this in term of quality of the place I take cabarete hand down over punta cana. Right now with 50,000 Haitians roaming around in Punta Cana and the mayor crying for help from the govt you do the math. I went to El cortecito about a year ago and it is a mess right now. If they don't do something fast it is close to being the second Puerto Plata.

Gee I wonder if it's on a 24 hour circuit for electricity and water....some doper will buy it and use it as an FOB
From: United States, Faber College Double Secret Probation
vacanos I am not talking punta cana but Punta Cana Beach Club where Kissinger and Barishnikov and Oscar and Julio live after leaving Casa .....there is a big distinction ....and this is where Rangel was given a brother in law deal by Ted Kheel one of the original investors and a very prominent NY attorney over 20 years ago ......that is NY city not NY state......same same

Blu got it. Was this the place where I saw Rangel shirt-less big belly on the front cover of the New York post snoring in a beach chair?
From: United States, Faber College Double Secret Probation
exactamente Vacant One my amigito Ted Kheel was his patron in this deal .He is a very very influential Labour lawyer that being said .....Mr Kheel has done a huge amount of positive things for the DR..... I cannot exaggerate his and his families contributions .....Punta Cana Beach Club is the most environmentally correct resort in the Caribbean if not the world thanks to the Kheel Family

Punta Cana is about as ugly a place with nothing going on in the entire country. Boring an made for tourists. I don't know Lions Gate but I do know Sea Horse Ranch. Definately one of the elite communities in the DR and ranks right up there albeit not on the Top.

You can make a nice community anywhere that there is land and a beach that makes it complete. Since we are an island we have plenty of Beach. There are many communities in the DR that are top notch. Anyone who knocks Sea Horse Ranch is either ignorant or hasn't been there and talking out of their ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies... Cheeseball nouveau is hilarious and comparing Rangel to the real elite is a riot:)
The dirt that this sits on is worth a good piece of that 20 cents on the dollar even in this economy. 6.6 million is not a expensive house in either Sea Horse or Haciendas El Choco. This seems quite the house by the description and I would like to see what it sells or which should be interesting.

Costambar is full of empty house and hotels.......Yet people still dump their hard earn savings into the Dominican Republic only to find out that there is no electricity...
My oh my think of how much it cost to run a joint like this....sic

albeit not on the top no not even close .....and Rangel the powerful political hack was brought in to Punta Cana Beach Club by Ted Kheel over 20 years ago...Escott sounds like a time share peddler and is dreaming if he thinks Cabarete or Seadonkey is in the same class as PCBC that is amusing

Grosero yhey will be lucky to get 10 cents on the dollar

I doubt we will ever know the selling price and I expect that this will actually not be sold once they see the offers they will get. There will be a secret bidder to save the sale for the sellers because the prices bidding they will see will not be nearly what they want. This is how things work in the DR and people still feel they can get top dollar for things when the rest of the world is lowering their prices. The monthly fees associated with owning this property are going to be quite high also. This is why they are selling this place off. If there was no major monthly bills to pay of course they would sit on it until the market gets better. If they don't find a complete sucker this place will not be sold at this auction regardless of what anyone thinks.
From: United States, Faber College Double Secret Probation
they would have a small shot if it was better located but it is not within Casa or Cap Cana or PCBC it is in Cheese Ball Cabarete or its environs .....what are you going to do hang out and play golf with wind surfers and bartenders and drug dealers.....Pleeeease

The real estate belongs to JP Martens, a former finish speed boat master and later criminal who stole 35 Mio Euro (approx. 54 Mio US$) from shareholders of the company he was presiding. He fled Finnland in 2000 and was hiding in the DR with a Brasilian Passport for a couple of years before he got cut 7 years ago. Interpol took him back to Finnland where he stayed in jail for 3 years but never paid back the stolen money.

and he had no class to build a monstrosity like that white elephant but it goes with the cheesy neighborhood ......15 cents on the dollar at most
