Santo Domingo.– Barcelo Hotels & Resorts announced that a multi-million dollar renovation is underway at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort located in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
Originally built in 1985, the all-inclusive resort complex includes five hotels with more than 2,000 guestrooms and suites, a casino, a golf course, a conference center, more than two miles of pristine beach, and 14 buffet and a la carte restaurants.
Phase I of the renovation is centered on the Premium Brand Barcelo Bavaro Palace Hotel which will have all of its guest rooms, suites and public spaces remodeled, as well as the addition of 488 new junior suites that are being annexed from what is presently the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Hotel.
When complete later this year, the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Hotel will feature 1,046 deluxe guest rooms and junior suites, almost all offering a sea view and balcony with a private Jacuzzi. In addition, the new guest rooms will feature large flat screen TV's, wireless internet connections, king size deluxe beds with comfort bedding, environmentally friendly light systems and large spa style bathrooms with relaxing showers that create ambience such as "Rain Dance."

They had the first golf course here and it so badly need to be upgraded along with the casino hotel. It was great in 85 but they have spend little on it and have taken lots out over the years..
They may finally be watching the competition and decide to put some cash back into the place.
I will believe it when I see it as they generally do everything very cheap and cut corners
They golf course designer was the same guy that designed the hotel and new nothing about golf. They have refused to spend any money on the maintenance of the golf course.
They did the same thing in Costa Rica and promised 18 holes to investors and 12yrs later its still 9 holes yet they continue to sell as 18holes coming soon.
They are cheap!! MiIes away from the Melia chain or Riu that are also apainish owned
