In a declaration published by the presidency, Correa also challenged Bush to send troops to the Colombian-Ecuadorian border.
"Bring your soldiers Bush, let your soldiers die at the southern border with Colombia. Let's see if U.S. citizens will accept such an outrage. Otherwise, shut up and try to understand what's happening in Latin America," Correa added.
Correa made the remarks following implied criticism of Ecuador by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who said Thursday during a visit to Brazil that "responsible states" should not let their territory be used by "terrorists.
Ecuador severed diplomatic ties with Colombia after Colombian troops entered its territory on March 1 to attack a camp of the FARC, calling the raid a violation of its territorial sovereignty.
In their responses, Venezuela expelled Colombian diplomats and Nicaragua severed diplomatic ties with Colombia. Both Ecuador and Venezuela had also deployed troops at their respective borders with Colombia at the height of the crisis.

Chavez has been very active in this regard with his frequent visits and laudatory comments about Fidel while Correa has sat back looking for a way to interject hisown brand into the contest.
it will be interesting to see which one wins this "batttle of the whiners".
Chavez as the "benevolent one" who uses his oil-rich position, or Correa who hasdemonstrated his solidarity for the socialist ideals.
Irrespective of the rhetoric to thecontrary, both Ecuador and Venezuela have given the FARC, at a minimum, moral support as is indicated by their "hands-off" positions. The facts are clear and urrefutable that this scenario exists now, as in the past.
As to financial assistance by Venezuela to the FARC, I won't comment except to say that is still a matter of conjecture.

this guy knows that Raul Reyes hard disk have a lot to say about him and the illegal arms groups in Colombia, thats why he is making all the noise, didn't Chavez hush up after the episode' what is this dud trying to do?
Also the young people of Ecuador will be victims of this guerrilla and would become a unsafe country, Mr. Correa pls protect your country of this people.
Fighting a guerillo band in the forests of Columbia is very much like that. The Columbian Government can attest to that.
Slowly, but surely, the infestation is being contained and dealt with.
What needs to be done now is to eliminate the avenues of financial infiltration which support the infestation.
Soon, both Venezuela and Ecuador will find themselves isolated behind the barriers that their rhetoric of hate and denegration have erected.
The US, particularily, must get the "cojones" to cancel all purchases of petroleum from Venezuela and leave Chavez holding the bag of an unwanted product which can only be refined in the US because of its high sulphur content.
