Port-au-Prince.– Haiti's Senate has agreed on a new prime minister after more than three months of political deadlock. Senators ratified the premiership of Michele Pierre-Louis by a 12-0 vote. Five senators abstained.
The 61-year-old economist is the second woman to become prime minister of the Caribbean nation. Lawmakers ousted her predecessor Jacques Edouard Alexis on April 12 after food riots left seven dead.
