New York.– “Flight 587 Honor,” a new documentary which honors the memory of the victims of the second largest aviation accident on US soil –a Dominican Republic-bound flight from Kennedy Airport which crashed in Queens, NY in November 2001– will be presented on Saturday, October 10, 2009 as part of the 26th edition of the Long Island Film Festival.

Produced by Another JAYDEE Production, LLC, the 52-minute film focuses on the family members of five victims. Filmed in New York and the Dominican Republic, “Flight 587 Honor” also examines a number of elements surrounding the crash that the director feels had not been publicized.

“I do projects that I am passionate about, and it bothered me that this incident didn't get the attention that other plane crashes received,” she added.

The 1:00PM screening will take place at Perspective Studios East located at 70 Glen Street (Suite LL) in Glen Cove, New York.

ny4life/miros,
Its not forgotten, but it is not good for the Dominican tourism to have this tragity inside people's minds all of the time. This can scare away tourists going to DR. No country wants to highlight that a plane full of their own people went down. Look at the air france, its not in the news that much and that was recent

Xwill7,
Thanks, I understand. This was an accident after all, one takes an every day risk walking down the street and driving. Those were Victims and at best just the fact that their memories are marked by it's anniversary can only serve to help heal the victim's family that's all, any time there's a large number of Victim's killed it brings out the Human aspect, no one is guaranteed tomorrow. Any one could have been on that flight including ME.
Also let us not forget the Victims on the ground.
Take care.
