NEW YORK.- The “masseuse” Julissa Brisman, 26, who advertised her services in the Web site Craigslist and was murdered by a medical student in a Boston hotel, was of Dominican origin, the victim’s relatives confirmed yesterday in the funeral parlor Ortiz.

I do not condone his behavior and I believe that he will be punished to the fullest just because it was other victims involve. otherwise he probably would gotten away with murder if there were other victims.

That would be the point of finding a motive to show that he is in no way a victim. In order to get a harsher punishiment or prove premeditated murder you have to show that the guy actually planned the murder ahead of time and if you can show that he did it just to pay off debts the jury and judge will be more likely to convict and give the guy life/death. Otherwise the defense can try to get the charges down by claiming it wasn't premeditated. So yes the motive is important.

YES, In the U.S. even if they Kill 50 people.. they will attempt to get the motive behind the killings and try to make sure that the person does not use some sort of self defense, long term emotional problems, etc, as a defense in court. It's not always about just guilt or innocence it's also to give more weight to the sentencing portion to show to what degree the person is a cold blooded killer for harsher punishment.

I agree to some of your statement there but anybody who saw the video of this guy walking into court and the way he was carrying himself knows he is no poor little child. From my view he knew exactly what he was doing and did it in cold blood.

-A drunk police who killed as 7 month pregnant woman and her 2 kids (in the 90's?). The police and the media started inestigating the husband past and th etype of relationship (violent they say)he had with her, oh why?
-The sport commentator who was havving a rlong elationship with a Dominican woman, she reported him for physical abuse.
-All the many Dominican taxi drivers who were killed and no one was ever arrested.

Many people here blindly trust the justice system to be fair and thats not the reality. I agree the system here is better than many places but is not to be trusted blindly like some people here are thinking. I have always said "if you ain't dirty let me see your hands". Many don't remeber the case of the Puerto rican killed a police man in NY in the 90s who got sentenced 20 yrs and who was supposely transfered to a "jail" in california and a reporter found him eating at burger king with a LAPD uniform. The only way to have a better system is not to trust it in any way so they have to prove them selves everytime justice is to be served.

OJ Simpson? I gather that no one on this forum was really watching the trial everyday and realized that it is the way the law works (unfortunately) which is why he was off scott free after killing those 2 persons. Look at who comprised the jury at that time -- it was the RACE CARD played in OJ's favor. That is why he was acquitted - all the evidence was right there for jury to see - they discarded it all. That is why OJ was found guilty in the civil trial! Of course it was very sad he wasn't sent to jail on day 1 - but his rotting away now is some small kind of payback.

Many don't remeber the case of the Puerto rican killed a police man in NY in the 90s who got sentenced 20 yrs and who was supposely transfered to a "jail" in california and a reporter found him eating at burger king with a LAPD uniform.
